I didn't have anything to do today. Usually on Thursdays, I go to the casino and play a little craps. It's always a blast to win some money but I lost all of my bankroll at the beginning of the month. So instead of playing craps I went for a walk in the woods.
It's so peaceful walking down the trails. I crossed this bridge
and continued down the path. The trees are just beginning to turn all different colors. Up ahead of me was this big old oak tree that had just turned red and it was shedding leaves all over the ground.
I followed the path looking all around and taking it all in. I love it out here.
I saw another bridge but I took a left instead and went down another path.
I was playing around with my camera when I walked out of the woods and into a field. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the thing. To many giz-wizzies on it. There were a lot of these purple wild flowers all over.
On day I met an old man walking down the trail and out of the woods. As I passed him by he said, "Hello." I said hi and he started to talk to me. He told me that he used to be a mountain climber. He was using two poles to walk with because of a bad back. He told me that his wife had died and that he had a memorial bench along the trails. I asked him his name and I said I would look for his wife's bench the next time I took a walk. Well today I found it. He must have been there earlier because there were flowers set up on the bench.
This nature preserve has these benches set up through out the trails. I have been taking pictures of them to see how many there are. so far I have counted 14 of them.
This wooden walk way took me over a stream and over to the farm.
I stopped and took some pictures of the stream. I have trouble with my hands shaking. I don't know why they do that but sometimes I'll have to take more then one picture of the same thing, just to make sure it isn't blurred.
I crossed the walkway and ended up on a gravel road in back of the farm
I came across this old plow. That must have been a lot of work back in those days.
I have been taking so many picture of the farm and the trails that I had forgotten about myself. So I set up the camera on the fence post and set the timer for 10 seconds. I ran over and smiled. When the shutter went off I went back to the camera. To my surprise a squirrel was sitting right next to my camera watching me get my picture taken. I hadn't notice him. When I went to grab my camera, I almost grabbed his head by mistake. It kind of startled me at first.
This weekend Oct 3rd they are going to have a Autumn Harvest Fest So they are setting up everything.
You just may see me there Sunday. I'll be the guy trying to figure out how to use his camera.

The woods that I walk through are on a 135 acre farm that was built back in the 1800's. The owner gave it over to the town when he died. Thank goodness the township had the foresight to turn it into a nature preserve. The town also restored the farm house and barns to their original condition. It's like going back in time. I feel like I'm back in the 1800's. It's really cool.
