Auschwitz 70th
anniversary
Today is the
70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz
I would not
be born for another 7 months. But that didn’t mean that I had never heard of
it. I didn’t learn of the death camps until I got older and everybody started
to get TV’s in their homes.
I couldn’t believe the pictures I had seen
while growing up. I’m not Jewish and none of my family had been sent to the
death camps, it’s just that it boggled my mind that people could do such things
to other people.
I never told anybody but I always wondered
what it would be like to see Auschwitz. I was curious. Then the other day I
came across the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum on my computer. They have a virtual
tour. If you want to take a walk through the camp and get an idea of what it
looks like without actually traveling there, then this is the place on your
computer to go too. There is a mass of information and things that I never knew
about.
After taking the virtual tour on my computer,
I had nightmares for two nights in row. I thought about what all those people
must have gone through.
Here is the link to the virtual tour;
