Fund

I wanted to share with you some of the people in my life that are important to me and that have helped me out all these years at the Schaumburg Township Disability Services.

I got there a little after 11:00am this morning. I would have been on time but the brake light went on in my car and I had to stop to fill up my brake fluid. When I opened the hood of my car to pour in the brake fluid, I hit my forehead on the corner of the hood. Damn! did that ever hurt. So if you see me with a sore on my forehead in any of the pictures you will know why.

I met up with the people in my disability group and sat down at the table with them. They are the greatest bunch of people you would ever want to meet. Of course there were a lot of other people at the picnic. The township has other groups with different types of disabilities.

Dorene and I have been friends for many years. I see her at the disability meetings each week. She is the friendliest person and you can always count on her to make you laugh. Sometimes  I worry about her as well as the rest of the people in our group. We all have our problems and we try to help and support each other.

Rose used to work in the disability office but now she is volunteer with Disabled Services at the Schaumburg township. She always has this Smile on her face. It makes you feel good. She has helped me out in more ways then I could count.

The Mayor of Hoffman Estates Bill McLeod stopped by our table to say hi to all of us.

From Left to Right -  Mona is the first person you'll see as you walk in the Schauburg Township. Ask her anything and she will direct you to the proper place. She is also the Township Photographer. Mayor of Hoffman Estates Bill McLeod and Anna Newell a Trustee of Hoffman Estates. Forgive me but I don't know the lady in the black top.

Then there is Gerry Bartnicke ( the woman in the bright yellow shirt). I have known her since 1985. She is the person who started the Disabled Services at the Schaumburg Township. Out of everybody at the Township she Is the most important person  to me. Without ALL her help, I would not be alive today. I would have been a homeless disabled man that would have starved to death on the street. I wish there was some Tribute I could pay to her. I would like to tell the whole world what an amazing person she is. Thank You Gerry for Everything.

 They started serving lunch.

There were so many volunteers there to help feed all of us. What would we do without volunteers?

The line was pretty long at first. Everybody was hungry. So I waited a little while until the line got shorter.

It was 90 degrees out so it was hot but the fire dept put up some of these great big fans and that helped get a breeze going thru the tent.

Senator Fred Crespo and Clerk Timothy Heneghan  were on hand for the Picnic.

There was a clown that made these balloon figures.

And the Boomer mascot from Schaumburg's Baseball team. And yes we do have our own baseball stadium here in Schaumburg. It must have been so HOT in that costume.

And then all the people behind the scenes like the people who had to clean up after us after we were through. They had the paramedics there just in case. I was glad to see that. You never know what might happen.

We had a bingo game after we ate. You can see that I only had one number covered when somebody called out Bingo. I never win these things.

It was good to see everybody and I had fun talking to them. Thank you Schaumburg Disabled Services for putting on the Picnic.
